Malcom X was born Malcom Little but later changed the name “Little” because it was a traditional slave last name. Malcom X believed that he wasn’t truly free until he started reading books while in prison. Despite having an 8th grade education, he valued literacy. Malcom was a human rights activist and leader in the black community, he has cemented his legacy in American history.
